Dominican Republic

The furthest from home that I have traveled was to the Dominican Republic. After my grandfather passed away I wanted to get away from it all. I decided to call up my best friend to go on vacation with me. She had been to the Dominican Republic previously and told me about how beautiful and calming it is. We looked online and found a great vacation package for the next weekend. Once we were there we immediately hit the beach and during our stay we did tons of shopping, even more sun bathing, snorkeling, parasailing, kayaking and swimming. It was definitely a great experience that I needed at that time in my life.

  • You must have a smoke detector in your home. This is a critical investment in your safety and the primary reason why fire deaths have declined in the United States over the past fifty year If you have a natural gas connection, fireplace or oil based heating system, you need carbon monoxide alarms in your home. A carbon monoxide detector will provide warning of carbon monoxide build up from a gas leak, poorly ventilated boiler or fireplace or furnace back-draft. It is also wise to use a carbon monoxide detector in the same room as any backup diesel power generators and kerosene stoves to let you know if your backup power or heat source is releasing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. Do you live in Appalachia or other areas with high levels of radon? Then you should consider a radon detector in your home. While rarely initially fatal, high levels of exposure over time increase your risk of lung cancer. A thermal leak detector is a good addition to any older home. Finding thermal leaks, both in the winter and in the summer, helps you seal up the home and reduce electrical usage. When sealing up a drafty home, be sure to have a carbon monoxide detector installed to prevent dangerous gas buildups.

  • Shopping Spree

Wouldn’t everyone want $1000 to spend at their store of choice? I would be thrilled with the idea of getting to spend that kind of money at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Some people may choose clothing stores, or food stores, but I love to spend time and money at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The idea that I can get everything and anything for my home is such a fun thought. I love my kitchen and getting tons of gizmos and gadgets for it so for me I would spend my entire day getting cooking appliances and brand new, sharp knives. I’m ready to shopping now.

  • Hey, Bartender!

I currently work in retail as a sales manager, but I have not always been in a retail environment. During college I did a lot of bartending and cocktailing. It was a lot of fun being in the bar environment. One of the down sides of that environment is that I was constantly working late night, so I would get home at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning then have to get right back up for classes. My absolutely favorite job was working in liquor promotions. We would go into a bar and give out free samples of a product for two hours. I loved that my job was essentially socializing. I didn’t have to work a full shift in one bar and every night was a different experience.

  • Travel

I have always wanted to travel to Samoa. When I look at pictures of Samoa there is so much beauty to see. Beautiful, crystal blue waters, clean, soft sand, and gorgeous sunsets. The rhythmic dancing of the island people are light and feminine when done by females and strong and masculine when done by the males. The fire dancing is hypnotic and sexy and the native people seem happy and inviting. Who would not want to experience all of this up close and in person? There is no other place in the world that has called to me the way Samoa has called to me.

  • I’m tall, and I like to give

My friends know me as someone who like to give. Sometimes too much, as I often bite off more than I can chew. I work hard, focusing very well. I’m very loyal. I try to do the right thing.  I like to do something right the first time, so I’ll put in lots of research before I attempt anything. I like to have things clean and organized, but I’m not especially demanding of others. I’m tall and have a long neck. My coloring is a pleasant golden brown, especially when I’m tan.  My hair is long. I look good in hats.

  • Protection

I’ve been researching different types of fire resistant fire retardant because I’m interested in using some in my child’s bedroom. I recently went to a fire prevention seminar and they mentioned this fire resistant fire retardant and I had never heard of it. I think it’s wonderful that such a product is manufactured. A person can never be too careful when they are preventing damage to their home or the lives of their families. I am going to purchase fire resistant fire retardant to use in my home, but I’m going to start in my son’s bedroom because he is the most important thing in my life.

  • Need a vacation

English: Start your vacation with a splash

    Image via Wikipedia

I love vacation. The chance to get away and clear your head. The chance to relax and do nothing, or do something fun with the people you love. Vacation can be two weeks camping in the middle of nowhere, a weekend with friends, or even a day visiting a place you’ve never been. It can also be a few days at home. Although it can be a little harder to relax then.  We try to have at least a small vacation two or three times a year. Sometimes we plan way ahead and aometimes we’re more spur of the moment. That can be the most fun.

  • Looking for work

This past week I looked for work. Not your typical job search. I checked Craig’s list for gigs, which are side jobs. I researched ways to make money at home. Among these I looked into stock photography, transcription, web design, web development, baking, drafting, blogging, freelance writing and more. There are plenty of scams out there, fortunately there are a few sites that can help you find legitimate jobs. To work at home you need to be enterprising, creative and determined. That’s part of what I’ve learned. I also hung out with good friends, got way too little sleep and did some clearance shopping!
